Little Pitchers Have Big Ears

You know me,
the one in the back,
the quiet one.

I say nothing
but absorb all you say,
ready or not.

They say kids
understand more than you know.
And it's true.

I'll take in
every sharp word, love, hate,
all your prejudice...

I'll use it
to build a world shaped
by your tongue.

NaPoWriMo’s Day 4 prompt: write a Lune. Each stanza has three lines. The first line has three words. The second line has five, and the third line has three. The poem can consist of just one stanza or many linked together into a unified poem.  Here’s mine.  The poem’s title is an old saying that means: “Watch what you say, there are children listening.”
