Three Landays, Half Empty

I’m starting to wonder if I dare
take the hand you hold out to me with so little care.

Studies show among modern nations
that the happiest people have low expectations.

So, sorry to give this one a pass;
if I expect little, it won’t bite me in the ass.

A landay is a 22-syllable couplet, generally rhyming. The form comes from Afghanistan, primarily from women. It’s also the NaPoWriMo prompt for Day 19. For details, click here.
